UPDATE: a client confirmed this plugin works to change font  https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/

This applies for free google fonts:

    Option 1:

    – go to new-theme-admin.php and add the font (around line 387 you have
    $google_fonts_array = array(

If that doesn’t work, you can also try option 2:

    Option 2:
    1. Go to https://www.google.com/fonts
    2. Search for the font you want to add
    3. Open header.php to find the head tags and follow the instructions provided by Google
    4. next you’ll have to manually replace in CSS the font family

I needed to add a new font as well. The file Anna is referring to is named “new-theme-admin.php” and its in the wpestate/libs file. I made it work. Yea!
