    Hi Anna,

I can only find instructions for installation, but nothing that helps with understanding the process for Users Subscriptions(except for an excerpt from the help manual below).

I was hoping someone could explain exactly what happens with Users Listings when they “upgrade” or add subscription services when they already have listings, either free or paid, and before any of those listings expire.

    EXAMPLE ONE:
If I want to provide a Free Listing for new users that lasts 6 weeks. And, if the user needs more listing time, they buy a subscription, for example: 1 listing for 3 months.

    What happens?

    • Does the new subscription provide an extra (new) listing?
    • Does it upgrade the existing listing from 6 weeks, or whatever remains, to 3 months + remaining?

    EXAMPLE TWO
Below is a quote from the help manual…

“If user’s package expires because he didn’t renew or he doesn’t have money in account, the package returns to FREE MEMBERSHIP by default. All his listings will have status EXPIRED (expired won’t show in listings). If user decided to renew package, he can re-submit listings for approval. He’ll be able to re-submit only the number of listings allowed by his package.”

Question 1: if “Returning to FREE MEMBERSHIP” as stated above, and Free Membership gets a Free 6 week Listing (as stated in Example One), will this reinstate the free listing and provide an extra 6 weeks, or is FREE MEMBERSHIP and FREE LISTING a totally separate thing?

Question 2: When a package expires, what happens to the “DATA” of the users listing? What does “Re-Submitting” mean exactly?

    • Is the Data Lost, requiring the user to re-submit and upload all of the data?
    • Or is the Data retained, and an option is provided to re-instate the listing as it was previously posted?

    Thanks Again.

NOTE FOR ABOVE… This is for SUBSCRIPTION BASED site, not singles. However, some of the questions are still relevant for purchasing via a Paid Listings option.

OR, am I looking at this all wrong? New User “Free Listings” are for Listing Based sales and don’t work with Subscription based sales, and therefore… free listings should NOT be provided with subscription services?

    Hi Tony,

I will answer each question one by one. Hope it helps.

———> First of all, I must clear that all Packages you create should have a fee.

———> The FREE listings (free membership) you can assign by default to new registered users don’t have an expiration date. If a user registers, and you offer 1 free listing, user can publish only this 1 listing and the submission form is no longer available unless he purchases a package with more listings. But this one listing is published for un-definite term.

———> Let’s say he upgrades to a package with 5 listings that are available for 1 week. After upgrade, his account will have 1 listing (published before) + 4 available listings.

———> His membership is valid 1 week, whether user adds listings or not.

Does the new subscription provide an extra (new) listing?

———> No. All his published listings are deducted from his current account. If he deletes a listing, then that listing is still deducted from his account.

Does it upgrade the existing listing from 6 weeks, or whatever remains, to 3 months + remaining?

———-> The listing is published for as long as his membership is valid.

    EXAMPLE TWO
Below is a quote from the help manual…

———> When user downgrades, all his current properties are set to status EXPIRED. He can choose only the number of properties included in his current membership to re-submit for approval. If Free membership has 1 listing, he can re-submit 1 listing.

Question 2: When a package expires, what happens to the “DATA” of the users listing? What does “Re-Submitting” mean exactly?

———-> It’s a button available in User Dashboard. He just clicks on the button.

Is the Data Lost, requiring the user to re-submit and upload all of the data?

———–> All data is saved, in his account. It’s just that properties are not published anymore.

Or is the Data retained, and an option is provided to re-instate the listing as it was previously posted?

————> The button sends the property to “pending status”. Admin receives a notification and he just approves the property.

    Thanks
    Anna

    Hi Tony

OR, am I looking at this all wrong? New User “Free Listings” are for Listing Based sales and don’t work with Subscription based sales, and therefore… free listings should NOT be provided with subscription services?

———–> Free listings are for Membership only. I explained above how it works.

    Thank you

OK thanks, I get most of it. Subscriptions get a total #number of listings, they do not accumulate.

But I need to double check on a couple of points with a refinement of the questions based on your responses.

    ONE – DELETING A LISTING

Deleting a listing, whether it is a Free (forever) Listing or a Paid (subscription) Listing, removes the option to list another property over and over again. Correct or Not?

    Example:
I buy a subscription for 6 months that includes 1 listing.
I list a condo for rent. In 1 month, the property rents out and I delete the listing. Can I create a new listing with a different property as I still have 5 months of subscription time?
Note: Same question would apply for 1 Free listing with indefinite expiration, when I delete the listing, I no longer can list anything?

    TWO – SUBSCRIPTION OVERLAPS

When a user has a paid subscription, for example 1 listing for 6 weeks. And the payment is not set to recurring. If the user decides to pay for the same listing again, before the current listing expires, what happens to the time provided for the listing?

    Example:

User buys a subscription with 1 listing for 6 weeks.
In 3 weeks, user buys (updates) the subscription with the same purchase – 1 listing for 6 weeks again (That is 3 weeks before the current subscription finishes).

Will user now have 1 listing with 9 available weeks?
Or will the subscription restart with only 6 weeks?

In other words, does the theme calculate the sum of a users multiple subscription purchases and append leftover time to a users new subscription? Or simply restart time from zero (0)?

    Hi Tony,

    Please see the reply below

    ONE – DELETING A LISTING

Deleting a listing, whether it is a Free (forever) Listing or a Paid (subscription) Listing, removes the option to list another property over and over again. Correct or Not?

—> Correct. We wanted to make sure there is no way to “trick” the membership.

    Example:
I buy a subscription for 6 months that includes 1 listing.
I list a condo for rent. In 1 month, the property rents out and I delete the listing. Can I create a new listing with a different property as I still have 5 months of subscription time?

—-> No, you can’t. You buy a membership for the listings included in the package. If user has sold the property and wishes to use the same spot for a 2nd property, he can edit the property and replace everything in there.

Note: Same question would apply for 1 Free listing with indefinite expiration, when I delete the listing, I no longer can list anything?

    —> Yes.

    TWO – SUBSCRIPTION OVERLAPS

When a user has a paid subscription, for example 1 listing for 6 weeks. And the payment is not set to recurring. If the user decides to pay for the same listing again, before the current listing expires, what happens to the time provided for the listing?

—> PayPal memberships have some rules and these can’t be modified.
—> One of these rules is that one user can have 1 unique membership ID per account. This means user can only have 1 paid membership active.

—> No. User will have 1 listing for 6 weeks (last purchase)

Or will the subscription restart with only 6 weeks?

    —> Correct.

In other words, does the theme calculate the sum of a users multiple subscription purchases and append leftover time to a users new subscription? Or simply restart time from zero (0)?

—-> Time restarts from 0 when user purchases again. Previous subscription is removed and updated in user account.

    Thank you
    Anna
