WP Residence v.1.40 – Improved design & Other Important Features
The latest version of our real estate theme includes the following main improvements:
- A new essential plugin,
- A smooth new design
- Updated the shortcode that lists properties by specific agents to include properties by specific agencies or developers
- Updated theme included demos (and updated the import process)
- Website users can submit their listings from the front-end without going through the login process first.
Wp Residence Core Functionality plugin
To comply with Envato market terms, starting with Wp Residence 1.40, the core functionality of the theme is moved to one single plugin. Wp Residence Core Functionality plugin includes all the theme’s specific functions related to the property listing, agents, and developers as well as widgets and shortcodes.
To activate the Core Functionality plugin follow the instructions from the Plugin Installation Notice that will appear when you log in to your wp-admin.
It’s important to note that the theme will not work without this plugin, so it’s mandatory to install it. This will keep all your theme utilities in one place and will not make any changes to your theme’s features.
A single side effect is that after activating Wp Residence -Theme Core Functionality plugin, on some installations, you may be required to reset your permalinks. Before this, save the ‘post-name’ custom URL structure from the Permalinks Settings area. For you to accurately see the new update make sure to clear every cache memory used: theme cache, server cache, plugin cache or CDN cache.
Another effect is that the theme translation is done now in 2 language files – wpresidence-child-po/languages and in wpresidence-core-functionality/languages that include 30 languages (100% translations machine done).
The child theme should also get un update to work with the new Wpresidence -Theme Core Functionality plugin.
Note that, if you have your translations added in the child theme, update only the following: wpresidence-child-po/style.css and wpresidence-child-po/functions.php.
Submit property form without login
A new feature that will make your website more accessible for users is the property submit the form without login. Property owners will be encouraged to submit their listing and fill in the form without having to log in first.
You can create the submit form in Admin – Pages and choose Front Property Submit template.
Starting 1.40.1 theme update the “Submit Property” button is replaced by “Add Listing.”
You can enable the Add Listing button in header media from an ON/OFF option available in the theme options.
To do this step, go to General Settings-Header Settings and choose ‘Yes’ for “Show submit property button in the header?”.
Once enabled, The Add Listing button will show in the header area next to the Login button. Click it and will open a page that allows users to submit their property; the user will be able to save it only if he decides to login/register.
Updated Demo Import Process and Demos
Following another requirement from Envato Market, with Wp Residence 1.40 the Demo Import process has been updated to work with WordPress Importer plugin. You can use this plugin to import theme demo content: pages, posts, categories, comments, custom fields and more are included.
We also updated all our demos which you can check here https://demo.wpresidence.net/
Demos include only some images (not all of them) for import process to be smooth on all kind of servers.
Updated Theme Design
The latest version of Wp Residence comes with a novel design for the default template. With the goal of creating an enhanced user experience, the new design uses font, color and contrast effects to highlight the property details.
For the same intention, we have extended the Listing by Agent shortcode to apply for listings by Agency and by Developer. This is particularly helpful if you want to show the properties listed by a specific real estate agency or by a development company. To display the listings select from the dropdown the agency id and the number of listings to show on the page.
